This program will cover core recommendation on infection control guidelines from the CDC related to standard precautions and infection prevention.

The Columbus Dental Society has schedule four CE programs in 2017 designed to ensure compliance with DANB's new regulation governing Infection Control and OSHA's Bloodbourne Pathogens Standard for Certified Dental Assistants. This regulation became effective on February 3, 2017 and requires additional training of dental assistants over and above the annual OSHA training mandated for the dental office and reads:

All certificants, whether they hold one or more DANB certifications, must annually earn a minimum of two (2) Continuing Dental Education (CDE) credits* in infection prevention, control or safety (for example, courses may include any topics listed in DANB's Infection Control (ICE) exam blueprint, which includes but is not limited to information on OSHA's Bloodbourne Pathogens Standard). 
*For each clocl hour of an attended session, seminar, or table clinic, or successfully completed online or home study course one (1) CDE credit will be awarded.
