Day 2 Hands-On Course:
  • Recap of Day 1 Brief review of key concepts covered on Day 1 to reinforce learning and set the stage for practical application.
  • Scanning and Designing – Activity 1: Perform intraoral scans of a (a) pre-cut mandibular tooth and (b) maxillary sound arch. 
    • Activity 2: Design a (a) crown and (b) an occlusal guard using CAD software, with a focus on accurate margin identification, contact points, and occlusal alignment.
  • Group 1: Hands-On Printing and Processing – Crown Design Printing: Participants will print their designed crowns using 3D printing technology. The process includes slicing, printing, washing, and curing. 
    • Occlusal Guard Processing: Hands-on practice with polishing and fitting pre-printed occlusal guards. 
    • Demonstration: Observe the printing of surgical guides and processing workflows for 3D-printed dental applications.
  • Group 2: Hands-On Milling and Staining – Emax Crown Processing: Participants will process pre-milled Emax crowns, including staining, glazing, and polishing for final restoration. 
    • Milling Demonstration: Observe a dry milling process in action, understanding the nuances of machine parameters and milling techniques for single-unit restorations. 
    • Final Seating: Practice seating the processed Emax crown on a model, ensuring a proper fit and finish.
    • Groups switch activity – Group 1 to Milling and Staining / Group 2 to Printing
  • Review and Q&A – Reflect on the hands-on sessions, discuss challenges, and ask questions related to the practical application of CAD/CAM workflows. Participants will have the opportunity to troubleshoot any issues encountered during the day. Participants will leave with a clear understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of CAD/CAM dentistry.
