Concepts in Airway Management

Course Description:
The majority of dental emergencies that result in an adverse outcome occur secondary to the of loss of the patient’s airway. It is vitally important that general dentists and specialists, hygienists, assistants, and even front office personnel understand the basic concepts of airway management. This course reviews the proper assessment of a patient’s airway, the utilization and understanding of proper patient monitoring, essential life-saving airway management techniques, and management strategies for patients with airway disorders.
Course Objectives:
Identify patients who are at risk of airway complications
Understand the basic concepts of proper monitoring
Understand basic airway management
Utilize basic strategies for patients with airway disorders
