TMD presentation objectives:
- Understand muscle, joint, and nerve anatomy of the jaw and explain the kinematics of the TMJ.
- Describe common disorders of the TMJ and how they present clinically.
- Discuss common pain referral patterns for jaw and cervical muscles.
- Explain the important role posture plays in assessing and treating TMD.
- Understand a physical therapist's approach to evaluating and treating patients with TMD, including important treatment techniques for these patients.
- Understand the most common vestibular dysfunction (BPPV), how it presents in the clinic, and how a physical therapist can diagnose and treat this condition.
Jenna will demonstrate how to check range of motion, assess joint mobility, palpate muscles of the jaw, and a dry needling demo.
Jenna received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Wellness from Brigham Young University in 2014 and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa in 2017. She is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association and her local state chapter. Jenna has been seeing head and neck patients exclusively for the past 3.5 years. She is a clinically-certified vestibular therapist, and certified in trigger point dry needling.
